Mrs. Coxon's Web Page
Mrs. and Mr. Coxon are proud Grandparents

Hello and welcome to Mrs. Coxon's Web Page. I have had the pleasure to know her over these last four years that I have attended Creative Technologies Academy.  I have come to realize how fun she is.  Though she is not a teacher, I feel we all can still learn something from her.  Last year I had then great honor of being her photographer for a project in Digital Photography.  Now this year, I have the great privilege of being her Webmaster.  The following is her response to a series of questions in which I asked...

Grandma and Grandaughter Question #1:  What is the most fulfilling experience while working with youth at CTA?
Answer:   Since I've been a part of CTA from its very beginning, I've been privileged to see some of the results of the investment our teachers, administrators and staff have made in the lives of students here at CTA.  I am thrilled when former students stop in to visit and report that they have become successful citizens, and there have been many.  That makes everything we do here at CTA worthwhile!
Question #2: What word would you use to describe yourself?
Answer:  Committed - I am committed to do my best to help CTA be the best we can be!
Question #3:  What interests you outside of school?
Answer:  I love spending time with my four grandchildren, singing in my church choir, biking on the White Pine Trail, traveling, reading and working on my house.  The good thing is, my husband enjoys these things too, so we do them together!
Question #4:  What areas at CTA do you feel need improvement? Mrs. Coxon walking hand-in-hand with her grandchildren
Answer:  Although we showed huge gains in test scores this last year, I want to see even more improvement.  The School Improvement Committee is working on this by analyzing data, strengthening the curriculum, and providing excellent opportunities for staff professional development.
Question #5:  How have the youth affected you?
Answer:  I've shared in the joys and sorrows of many young people through the years.  I've tried to encourage each one to realize that no matter what their circumstances might be, they have a choice as to which path they take.  I rejoice when they choose to develop character and use their gifts to serve others.
Question #6:  How long will you work at CTA?
Answer:  I'm not ready to retire yet!  I still enjoy coming to school every day and I'm excited about all the good things that are happening here!
Question #7: What are the qualities most needed to be an effective educator?

Answer : While it's obvious that educators must know their subject area, it takes more than certification to be an effective teacher.  To truly educate, teachers must have a passion and calling to help children and young people, something that drives them to find a way to connect with each student.  I believe teachers send on a small part of themselves with each student; it is both an awesome and wonderful responsibility.
